Goodbye P-230-149-071-…
It was July 6, 1982 when I met this beautiful number. She has been with me on every ID check since then. She was a reason for pride at parties when I could show-off that I had memorized my drivers license number.
But in light of new security concerns, apparently there is a way to crack the code of those old number, and apparently it is a big deal if someone knows your drivers license number even though it is printed on nearly every check I have ever written, the state of Minnesota has gone to a new number. And with this year renewal I had to get a new number.
So, hello Y145221856….
I should tell you, new number, that at my age I am lucky to remember why I walked into the bathroom let alone locking you into my memory banks. And, if I sometimes refer to you as p-230 you will just have to understand that two out of three ain’t bad - I want you, I need you but there ain’t no way I am ever gonna love you.
Here’s to you P-230.

You quoted a Meatloaf song. You are my hero.
I had a similar experience not too long ago. My parents recently bought a new house in a nearby town in the same county. For whatever reason, they couldn’t keep their old phone number. I just put the new number into my cell phone, but have no idea what it is because I never have to memerize phone numbers any more.
