The Great Emergence Event - Wanna come for free?

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

December 5-6 in Memphis, Tennessee the premier 2008 Emerging church/Emergent/Emerging Christianity/Emergency (whatever you want to call this movement) event will take place.

The Great Emergence National Event.

The two days will be built around Phyllis Tickle’s new book by the same name.

There is no question in my mind that this is the event for those who are interested in not only the future of the church, but what possibilities are at hand for Christianity and religion in the coming years.

In addition to this being a great event for its content the structure of the event will also be innovative presentations from a fine roster of exciting voices.

Here is the really great part - you can be part of the promotion of the event and have all your expenses covered - registration, housing and travel.

Here is the deal: When you promote the event (through blogs, email, Facebook, Twitter, church bulletins, putting flyers on windshields or how ever you want) and people register using the four-letter code you establish you will earn points.

Each person registered = 1 point and with each 5 points earned you move to the next reward.

  • 5 =  Signed Copy of the Book
  • 10 = Signed Copy of the Book and Free Registration
  • 15 = Book, Free Registration and Two Night Free Hotel
  • 20 = Book, Free Registration, Two Night Free Hotel and $300 in travel Reimbursement

Frankly, this seems like an unbelievable deal, but you can believe it.

So, here is what you need to do from here:

  1. Choose a 4-letter code (no numbers please)
  2. Send code, name, promotion location (site, facebook, etc), phone number and mailing address to Info@JopaProductions.com.
  3. Download the helpful marketing material here (headers, book cover, “register here” button)
  4. Start promoting the event and tell people to enter your 4-letter code into the Coupon Code Box on the registration page.

And the next thing you know you will be at the event and have your expenses paid for.

See you in Memphis, December 5-6.

What did you do this summer?

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Nothin’ much, just eat a croissant, a quiche and drank orange juice on the terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea on the French Riviera  - Come on.

This is our last full day in Villefranche, “our” little village next to Nice. We head to Cinqua Terra tomorrow and then to Rome tomorrow evening.

We are heading into Nice for the day today and then back for a last dip in the Sea.

In Nice

Monday, August 11th, 2008

We arrived at the apartment today. We will stay here until Saturday.

The apartment and the city are beautiful. It is owned by our friend Erik who is graciously renting it to us.

After flying from Paris this morning and figuring out a car situation we arrived in Nice about 2 or 14:00. WE found our way to some lunch at a cafe and then went to the ocean.

The water was scrumptious. And very salty, which make the body buoyant. It is crazy. Maybe all the Mediterranean is like this, but we had a blast with it.

Tomorrow will be a non-travel day, our first so far. Then we will head to some of the great towns in the area.

We also ventured into a grocery store, which is a story all it’s own - apparently the French can sleep at night without a bowl of cereal - if you know what I mean, and I think you know what I mean (that is for you Professor).

Heading to Portland April 16

Friday, April 4th, 2008

I will be in Portland, Oregon April 16 - come and join in the fun.

Following the Seeds of Compassion Event with the Dalai Lama on April 14th and 15th I will be in Portland Wednesday, April 16 for an event that Bob Hyatt and I are puttingtogether. The location is still being worked out but the event will run in the evening starting at 7:30. More details will be posted here as the come together.

Among the content for the evening I will present some of the ideas from A Christianity Worth Believing and there will be conversation and discussion especially around the first 3 chapters which you can read in the table of content section here. The event will cost $10 (payable at the door) and the first 50 people will receive a copy of BodyPrayer.

Please feel free to join us for the event or for a visit to a local watering hole after the event.

What a Week

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

This last week was full of travel, meeting good people and “spreading the word” that this is a great time to be alive and we can join in what God is doing wherever we find ourselves.

I was graciously taken in by people from Abilene to Orlando. I am appreciative of the opportunity to spend inside communities that included college campuses, churches, a denominational retreat, friends homes and a borrowed condo.

I spent much time on airplanes (8 flights in total) a task that was made much better by watching most of the first season of Arrested Development. I was sort of running that story line through my head in all the places I visited. So I was trying to not introduce myself by saying “this is the story of…” or inadvertently saying “hey brother” or “I have made a huge mistake”. If you have not seen the show I encourage you to head to Itunes, Netflix of the video store and pick it up.

So, here is a run down of my week. (more…)
