I have been a fan of the show Desperate Housewives since it first came on the air in 2004. In fact the first season is the among the best narrative preaching I have ever heard - it is so good.
Two weeks ago they aired an episode on church that I thought was terrific. The entire episode is worth watching and you can here. I cut out 11 minutes worth of the Lynette storyline and have posted it here
It is in my wheelhouse of opinion about church and the role of people, sermons and the pastor. Watching it I kept saying, “uh huh…
If you want my take on this it is in my book
But, this version might even say it better.

You ought to buy this book.
My friend Brent has written a gem of a book.
He is Quaker (so he digs oatmeal and an entire set of practices that many traditions are not as familiar with) and has written a book to help other understand the beauty of the practice of Spiritual Discernment. Discernment is a practice that has been well kept by the Quakers.
The book is not only great on the inside, but looks fabulous.

Bill Dahl, of The Porpoise Diving Life fame, has graciously taken a break from his sabbatical and has written an endorsement of A Christianity Worth Believing.
By the way, I will be putting up readings of chapters 2-3 and 11 over the next two weeks. There will also be chapter 1-3 downloads coming. The book will be available sometime between May 15 and June 2 (think of the release date range like Easter - a date moving all around but falling in a certain window).
A Christianity Worth Believing – Hope Filled, Open Armed, Alive and Well Faith – For the Left Out, Left Behind and Let Down in Us All
by Doug Pagitt – Jossey-Bass Publishers San Francisco, CA

A Book Review by Bill Dahl
Postman came today;
Junk mail, bills, and a weird promotional gadget.
At the bottom of the stack,
A new book from Doug Pagitt!
As I ripped open the bills,
I immediately began grieving.
Then I opened Pagitt’s book,
“A Christianity Worth Believing.” (more…)
