Stimulating and informative June 24th presentation! Good critiques of the old tri-partite view of human nature (on your napkin), Augustine’s dualism and his teaching on depraved and fallen humanity (influenced somewhat from his old days with the gnostic-like Manicheans, which he supposedly forsook). FYI, Judaism has no understanding of this doctrine of fallen humanity. Judaism doesn’t read Gen 3 that way. Yes, there are other ways to interpret Romans 5:12-21 (Adam and Christ contrasted) than the interpretations provided by Augustine-Luther-Calvin. Although Aquinas was indebted to Augustine, he favored Aristotle’s system over Plato’s (which Augustine admired for its dualsim, of course). No, the presentatioan wasn’t too professorial. Also enjoyed the music, esp. the song with the double entendre, “You are…”
