Congratulations to President-Elect Barack Obama. I have many thoughts about this important election and all that has gone with it. At this exciting time I have my own announcement to make.
After two years of thinking, planning and dreaming I have made a decision to add a new component to my work and service life: I am going to join the political field and run for public office.
So, today I announce that I am running for the Minnesota State Legislature in 2010.
While the 2008 election just ended minutes ago, I am setting my sights on November 2, 2010, only 729 days away.
There is much work to do in these next 729 days and would like to invite you to join me in this effort. While most readers of this blog will not be able to vote for me as you do not live in District 41a there are many ways you will be able to participate and help in the effort.
Over the next number of weeks I will roll out my views on politics, civic engagement and ways for you to join with me in this effort.
Please stay tuned and if you do live in, or are planning to move to Minnesota District 41a I hope I can count on your vote.

Does anyone ever wonder if this is a crap statment just getting everyone in the blog community talking about Doug?
Doug-
As an emergent who – let’s just say I had a diversity of opinion on the election with most in the conversation – I appreciate the way you really have seemed to stayed above the fray in this election season. Some leaders would do well to take a lesson from you there.
That alone is almost enough to make me want to support you in ’10, even though I’m out of state. I’m looking forward to this roll out.
THIS IS TRULY EXCITING: ANOTHER CHRISTIAN IN PUBLIC OFFICE.
CAN THE MOST HELPLESS AMONGST US COUNT ON YOU FOR THEIR SUPPORT TOWARD MAKING IT THROUGH THE ABORTION CULTURE AND INTO THEIR DESTINY AND GOD’S PLANS AND PURPOSES FOR THEIR LIVES?
PERHAPS YOU WILL ALSO WORK TOWARD THE DAY WHEN PUBLIC POLICY DOES NOT REWARD THE CONTINUING BREAKDOWN OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN FAMILY BY SUBSIDIZING THE OUT OF WEDLOCK BIRTH RATE THAT HAS, ESSENTIALLY, RELEGATED THE AFRICAN AMERICAN MALE TO THE ROLE OF SPERM DONOR?
GOOD LUCK, BRO, AND, YOU KNOW—GOD BLESS.
